Therapist Santa Monica, CA

I have been a licensed therapist in Santa Monica for over 30 years, and my approach to therapy can help you with your mental health concerns. I provide a safe place to go through your therapy process, uncover your feelings and emotional conflict, as well as discover and change the patterns that don’t work for you.

Santa Monica Therapy

I work with adults of all ages, helping you to work through depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship issues. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and neurodiversity affirming. Normally, we will meet once a week. Some clients prefer to meet more often to reach their goals faster. The first session or two we will discuss your goals for therapy and the ways to achieve those goals. I am skilled in several different modalities of therapy, which we can employ in order to work through your concerns.

Therapy Services in Santa Monica, CA

Neurodiversity Affirmative Therapy

As a neurodiversity affirming therapist, I can provide a supportive and empowering environment to help you grow and thrive as you navigate a neurotypical world. Therapy is client-led and client-centered, so you can harness your strengths and work through the issues that you identify.

Depression Therapy

Depression causes profound sadness, making you cry a lot and no longer be interested in the things that used to make you happy. You might be isolating yourself or not taking care of yourself. Depression is such a difficult mental health concern because it can make you feel like nothing will ever get better and nothing will ever help. There are many excellent treatments for depression.

Relationships

Relationships can help make life better, or they can really hurt your ability to thrive. You may want to discover your patterns that lead to difficulties. You can make changes that will lead to less emotional conflict. These patterns often develop in childhood based on what was modeled for you in the relationships between family members. Through weekly therapy, you can start to make changes in who you’re attracted to.

Therapist Santa Monica: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Therapy is often about making changes in order to reach your goals. Unfortunately, real change is difficult. It is most easily achieved through consistently working on your goal at least once a week. If there are 168 hours in one week, and you spend 167 of them going about your life, and only one hour a week working on yourself, you can see how that isn’t a lot of time. Not to mention how many years and years it took to ingrain these ways of being and thinking. I encourage you to come once a week, at a minimum, and consistently work on your issues.
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Sometimes, EMDR sessions can last for 90 minutes.
Most clients prefer to pay right before each session via Venmo or Zelle. Occasionally, clients will pay for a block of sessions beforehand.

The success rate of therapy is very difficult to quantify.  Clients have such vastly different goals and reasons for being in therapy.  Success for one person can be failure for the next person. People need very different levels of support. Take a look at this article to help you think about what makes for successful therapy.
