Therapy in Torrance, CA

I am a counselor who works with adult clients, helping you grow and change. At first, we work together to discover your goals and discuss how you might reach them. Then, we might try different types of counseling to see what works for you. We will figure out how your life experiences shaped you as a person, and how you can change to lead a better life now.

A Few Words From Your Therapist, Mindy Fox

Over the last 30 years that I have been a therapist, many effective types of counseling have been developed to help you. I have had extensive training in some of these, such as Somatic Experiencing, EMDR Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, and Neurofeedback. These improve and deepen therapy and help you heal quicker and with more ease. These methods just were not available 30 years ago.

Therapy Services

I offer therapy that can go as deep as you’d like. If you want to heal from just one issue, or uncover and process through several problems, it’s your choice. This is your journey. I can make suggestions, but you are the one who decides where to go.

Depression

Depression is a mental health condition that keeps you feeling hopeless and helpless and like you want to give up. It can negatively affect your sleep, eating, work and home life and personal hygiene. There are many good treatments for depression, so you don’t have to continue feeling this way. EMDR, Neurofeedback and therapy can help. Finding the right relationship can be so elusive. You might be so frustrated that you're continuing to attract someone who isn’t healthy for you. You may need to uncover the deeper reasons for these unsatisfying relationship patterns, and work to change them. It is common to try to put a better ending on relationships that did not turn out well in your past, starting with your relationship with important caregivers in your childhood. You can learn a lot about yourself through examining who you are attracted to and make the changes that will lead to a better life.

Teletherapy Torrance

Teletherapy services are available if that is more convenient for you. I work over zoom. I email you a link and at the time of our appointment you click on the link. It’s important that you have a private, quiet place for us to have our session so you won’t be disturbed.

How Different Is A Teletherapy Session Compared To An In-person Session?

The biggest difference when doing Teletherapy is the lack of personal interaction. In-person sessions can be more social and allow you to have a bigger picture which includes body language and physical energy. Therapy online can be a bit more distracting sometimes. I think it depends on the person whether it’s harder or easier to connect online or in-person. For some, the convenience of online therapy far outweighs the drawbacks.

Therapist Torrance: Frequently Asked Questions

Call or email the therapist and let her know you’d like to schedule a session. You might want to find out the cost and if she has openings to start right away. You can ask if she offers a free initial consultation to see how comfortable you feel with her.

Some people really get a lot out of therapy. It really works for them. Sometimes, the only way to find out if it’s worth it is to do sessions once a week for a couple of months. Make sure you click with whoever you decide to see. It’s so important to feel comfortable with who you talk to.

First, take a look at their website and see if you connect to what they are saying. Schedule a short phone call to see if you get a good feeling from them. Is she easy to talk to? Do you feel like you can really confide in her? Do you feel comfortable? Does she maintain an accepting, caring attitude?
This depends on what you are looking for. If you have relationship patterns that you need to stop repeating, EMDR can help you reprocess patterns that don’t work for you.. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help you set intentions to act differently. EMDR is good for trauma and neurofeedback is great for anxiety, panic attacks and depression. Together, we discuss your concerns and come up with a plan for treatment
In general, I will often start with neurofeedback. This will calm down your nervous system and make it easier for you to discuss issues that keep you stressed out and implement changes to address your anxiety.
The going rate for Torrance therapy is between $150 and $200 per 50 minute session. Therapists with more years of experience are charging $200.
